JAMES CUDJOE.
Born September 1971. Educated at Ghanatta College of Art, Accra.
JC belongs to a long tradition of pastors/painters and painters/pastors that stretches back to Fra Angelico. JC is a full time artist who is the resident pastor at Holy Fire International Church, Cape Coast. JC HSS exhibited in the US ( San Diego Museum of Man), Europe and Africa. He specialises in painting cityscapes of the harbour and oil city, Takoradi and Marin scenes of Elmina. Elmina is a fishing town. Fishing the predominant occupation and has been since the last four centuries. Discovered by Europeans, who built a castle to serve as a trading port, Elmina castle later was used as the holding ground and last place of departure for slaves being exported to Europe and the US. The castle, built over 400 years ago, still stands and serves as a tourist attraction. Elmina is no more a tiny village. It is a thriving town with fishing still the main occupation.
